Gardaland with young kids: is it really worth it?

Yes, and it’s simpler than it sounds — as long as you set some realistic goals. You don’t need to “do the whole park”: 4-5 well-chosen attractions, a couple of shows sitting in the shade, and even the downtime becomes play for them too (a fountain, a green area, an ice cream). The areas designed specifically for younger children — Fantasy Kingdom, Peppa Pig Land and Prezzemolo Land — cover most of a child-friendly day on their own, and they’re also close to each other: fewer trips back and forth, fewer meltdowns.

What to pack in your backpack

One piece of advice that comes up in almost every account from parents who’ve already been with young children: don’t expect to stick to a rigid schedule. Do the shared attractions in the morning, when everyone has energy, and leave the afternoon freer for play, shows and breaks once the child starts to get tired.

Strollers at Gardaland: rental, where to pick them up and what to expect

If you don’t want to bring your own, stroller rental is available at Gardaland Park: pick-up is at the Info Welcome point (near the entrance) and Info West. Keep in mind that, as in many theme parks, availability is limited on high-attendance days: if possible, arrive at opening or consider bringing your own.

Baby Switch: the trick to not missing out on attractions

If someone in your family hasn’t reached the minimum height for an attraction yet, that doesn’t mean both parents have to miss out: with the Baby Switch service, one parent queues and rides while the other stays with the child; when they return, they swap and the second parent gets priority access, without queuing again from scratch. Ask how it works directly at the entrance of the attraction you’re interested in.

Among the areas most loved by families with young children are Fantasy Kingdom, Prezzemolo Land and Peppa Pig Land, where little ones meet their favourite characters and ride attractions designed just for them, like Baby Pilota or the Transgardaland Express. Then there are the great classics suitable for the whole family, like Mammut and Jumanji – The Adventure, plus roller coasters for older kids, like Blue Tornado, Oblivion, Raptor and Shaman.

When to visit to avoid queues with children

With a young child, queues are the real enemy: a few minutes turn into a long wait if you also have to handle a meltdown or a missed nap. Weekdays and periods just outside high season (late summer, early autumn) are generally quieter than weekends and August. In summer, arriving in the late afternoon can also be a good strategy: less heat, smaller crowds, magical lighting for little ones.

Free entry and family tickets

Under 90 cm tall, entry is free, and there are discounts up to age 10: one more good reason not to put off the first visit just because “they’re still little.” The advice that always applies: buy tickets online in advance, so you avoid the queue at the ticket office and often save compared to the price at the counter.

The shows at Teatro della Fantasia are designed for little ones too and are a great excuse to sit in the shade and catch your breath. Just a 5-minute walk from the entrance you’ll find Gardaland Sea Life, the themed aquarium where you can meet marine creatures from the 7 seas: a slower pace, indoors, perfect for breaking up the day between attractions.

Legoland Water Park: a whole day built for families

Legoland WaterPark, the water park inside Gardaland Park, is designed specifically for families with young children: gentle slides, shallow pools and a family-style lazy river. It requires a separate ticket in addition to the park ticket, so plan ahead if you want to include it in your day.
